Green Bee

May 15th, 2009 | Posted by Kitty Baby Love in Family Life - (0 Comments)

Ben found a green bee in our grassy area today! I almost didn’t believe him when he said he “saw the most beautiful green bee”

It was metallic green with yellow pollen filled legs. Beautiful indeed!
After a quick google for “green bee”, we learned that our little friend is called a Halictid bee, or sweat bee. It cools itself by continually regurgitating liquid and reswallowing it!

Ah, the air is warm and life is good. The kitties now bathe in the shadows instead of the direct sunlight, and our little plants are happily growing. Ben’s bamboo is shooting new shoots, the tomato plant is thickening it’s stalk and has a flower, our newly planted basil is beginning to sprout, and our avocado tree is shooting new leaves as well.

Now if only Mikah would arrive……
